The Inspiration

Like so many women (and even a few men), I have read every Jane Austen book, more than once. Standard favorites are, of course, Sense and Sensibility, as well as Price and Prejudice. But also, Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northhanger Abbey. Having also enjoyed the Bronte's but not so much the darkness of their works, preferring instead the brightness and lightness of Austenm along with the moral tales and lessons for women of the day.

As a teenager, I dreamed of visiting England, but have only visited the England of Shakespeare, London, Stratford Upon Avaon, and a few other spots. So now, after years of France under my belt, and many other travels, I am beginning to research and plan a several week long excursion to England to explore where she lived, how she lived, and to see the towns and areas described in her books. This is in no way a Jane Austen biography or history. So many have been written and, I am sure, better than anything I could produce, but more about exploration and understanding.

So, it may take two years to achieve, of planning and researching, but this blog will take me and you on the journey to Jane Austen's England.
